Dear list members,

Please draw the attention of suitable graduate students to the “Vice
Chancellor's PhD Scholarships” at LondonMet:

Interested students should apply even if their suggested project does not
exactly fit the generic descriptions given for the research projects.
German Film topics come under Project HALE/02, so do German migration
topics, while German Linguistics comes under HALE/03. The deadline is 1st
November (second call).

Supervision opportunities in German Studies:

Dr Rosemary Stott
Film Studies (especially German film history: East German, West German,
and post-unification; the reception of international films in different
cultures).

Dr Inge Weber-Newth
Research area: migration studies, with a particular focus on ethnic
minorities in post-war Germany and Britain. This includes issues of
gender, ethnicity, language and biographical and collective memories.

Dr Klaus Fischer
German Linguistics (especially Valency theory and application); Typology
of English and German; Focusing constructions; General Linguistics; German
Studies; Language acquisition/second language learning.
