medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture I never had the pleasure of meeting Mary Dove, but I did receive an encouraging email from her that I'm glad I saved. I can honestly say that without her edition on the Glossed Song of Songs, I'd have no article and no dissertation. I knew her only as a friend and companion whom I'd met at a couple of conferences and liked immensely. She was very modest about her accomplishments and, simply, a lovely person. Her work on the Glossa ordinaria was extremely helpful to me while working on my book on the Maccabean martyrs.
