The latest exhibition at the Museum of the History of Science is 'Compass and Rule: Architecture as Mathematical Practice in England, 1500-1750'. This major loan exhibition brings together the histories of architecture and science to explore geometry and design. It unites drawings, instruments, and books from collections across the UK to shed new light on the world of the architect and the mathematical practitioner in early-modern England. For those unable to visit in person there is a website at http://www.mhs.ox.ac.uk/compassandrule/ which includes video and animated drawings. There is also an exhibition catalogue by Anthony Gerbino and Stephen Johnston published by Yale University Press - details available on the website. The exhibition runs until 6 September and entry is free. -- Dr Stephen Johnston Museum of the History of Science University of Oxford Broad Street Oxford OX1 3AZ http://www.mhs.ox.ac.uk/staff/saj/
