The Commercial Legal and Scientific Information Group (CLSIG) invites you to attend our latest seminar:

Managing stress in the workplace

Thursday 25 June, BMA House, Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9JP.

Doors open 6pm, 6.30-8pm

Following on from previous successful seminars held in February (Redundancy) and April (Preparing a business case) this seminar will address the issue of managing stress in the workplace.

Stress at work affects not just the well being of employees but also the health of an organisation as a whole. According to the Health and Safety Executive 40% of absence days taken in 2007/8 were due to workplace stress, the equivalent of over 13m days lost. There is a legal as well as a moral duty of care for employers to look after their staff but this seminar will explore a range of tools and techniques that both employers and employees can use to tackle stress and its effects.

Using the change management project recently carried out at the BMA Library, Jacky Berry (BMA Librarian) will outline the stress issues she encountered not only with the team she was working with but the personal stress experienced herself. The session will be interactive and attendees will have the opportunity to check their own stress levels and take away some techniques to alleviate stress at work.

There will be a networking reception after the event.
