Information and Library Services NVQs - recognising your skills
Sue Caporn, LRC Manager City of Bristol College
Sue will talk about the Information and Library Services (ILS) NVQs, which have been delivered at the College for over 10 years.  She'll cover the content of the NVQ standards, explain how candidates build up a portfolio of evidence, and will describe the assessment procedure

Chartership and New Framework of Qualifications 
Bridget Knutson, Chair of Career Development Group West Country 
 What is Chartership, how do you get it, and what can it do for you? An overview of CILIP's Framework of Qualifications, covering the ACLILP and Revalidation awards, as well as personal experience of Chartering through the ACILIP route. This presentation will cover the Framework overall, details of the Certification and Revalidation processed and information about the support and options available to you.

 Foundation Degree Cultural Services 
Claire Puckett, Curriculum Development & Progression, Cultural Services South West Lifelong Learning Network
 
Two new Foundation Degrees have been developed in the South West with the support of the SWLLN. Details of these courses will be outlined, including part-time and continuing professional development options, entry and progression routes, and an overview of course content. Information resources to support career development for the sector have been developed, and there will be an opportunity to comment on these before publication.
 
 
2.00pm – 2.45pm :
Masters in Information and  Library Management
Jackie Chelin, Deputy Librarian, UWE Library Services/Module Leader on the MSs ILM
Jackie will  provide an outline of the course, how it has developed and involvement with local employers.  The time will be used to pose questions for discussion about how people think the course ought to be developing, how it might fit with Foundation degrees/NVQs and how all these types of qualification are viewed by employers in terms of essential and desirable requirements.
 
2.45pm - 3.00pm Tea and coffee: Questions and answers: Evaluation of event
  3.00pm Optional tour of College Green Learning Resource Centre or departure.
