Conference News - Issue 1

The Organising Committee for the 2nd International Conference of the International Society for Child Indicators (ISCI 2009) and the Children as Experts in their Own Lives Symposium would like to announce that the call for abstracts deadline has been extended until Friday 5 June 2009.

2nd International Conference of
the International Society for Child Indicators

 

The theme for the ISCI 2009 conference program is 'Counting Children In! Child Indicators: Research, Theory, Policy and Practice'.

Abstracts will be accepted under the following themes:

  • Theoretical, conceptual and empirical issues in the development of child indicators
  • Measurement issues at levels of individual, family, community and globally
    • What is measured or counted?
    • Who decides what is measured or counted (perspectives of all stakeholders including children and young people)?
    • How are indicators being used (potential uses and abuses)
  • Diversity as a challenge to construction and implementation of indicators (taking account of age, gender, ability, culture, geography and socio economic status).

The Children as Experts in their Own Lives Symposium

 

The theme for the Children as Experts in their Own Lives Symposium program is 'Child Inclusive Research'.

Abstracts will be accepted under the following themes:

  • Research with children and young people
  • Research by children and young people.
