Dear VSSN members,

Demonstrating the Difference

- new study report from Charities Evaluation Services on how sector
infrastructure organisations are getting to grips with assessing their
outcomes.

All across government, times are extremely tight. Everybody is going to
have to work harder to demonstrate why what they do represents good
value for money.

(Research respondent, Office of the Third Sector )

Demonstrating the Difference examines the challenges infrastructure
organisations face when trying to assess the difference their work
makes, and how many of them have sought to overcome these difficulties.

The report looks at:

*	how the need to demonstrate difference is becoming more urgent;
*	what infrastructure organisations can do to enhance their
ability to demonstrate the difference they make; and
*	what information funders and commissioners are asking from
infrastructure, and what infrastructure organisations are gathering for
themselves.

Download a free copy from CES' website (scroll to Noticeboard on home
page, www.ces-vol.org.uk <http://www.ces-vol.org.uk/> )

CES will be sharing our findings with infrastructure networks and
funders, and particularly Big Lottery Fund BASIS which has just
announced a major programme in this area to be led by NCVO.

If you have any queries or observations about the report, please feel
free to email me.

Best wishes,

Colin Nee

Evaluation Services <http://www.ces-vol.org.uk/> and IDeA
<http://www.idea.gov.uk/> have joined forces to host a national
conference to address the importance of using quality to build
resilience and increase sustainability.
