Dear Psci people,

Darwin 2009 Festival 5-10 July 2009, Cambridge UK

A Festival of science, arts and humanities, celebrating the life and legacy of Charles Darwin.

Schools block booking concession

In order to encourage as many young people as possible to benefit from the Cambridge Darwin 2009 Festival, we have introduced a concessionary rate for school groups.

Festival morning sessions are aimed at general audiences of 16 years and over. The afternoon sessions are aimed at audiences of 16+ who have a strong interest in the particular subject matter.

To obtain the schools booking form please email Festival Director, Miranda Gomperts [log in to unmask] and request the schools booking link. Numbers are currently capped at 10 (1 teacher and 9 school students 16+) per school to allow as many schools as possible to participate.

Full day: (9 school students and 1 teacher): 120

Half day: (9 school students and 1 teacher): 60

Seating for the morning sessions will be in the overflow lecture theatre (see Overflow Venue information below).

Refreshments (tea/coffee/lunch), programme and Festival bag are NOT included. School groups are expected to bring their own refreshments.  A copy of the Festival programme will be emailed to the teacher in charge in mid June so that copies can be made for students in advance.

Overflow Venue

The overflow venue is the Law Faculty lecture theatre. The session in the main venue will be broadcast (audio and visual) live onto a large screen in the overflow venue. The audience will have the opportunity to email questions to the session chair that they would like to be put to the speakers and/or panelists. Both venues are within a short 3-5 minute walk of each other on the Sidgwick site. This proximity means that audiences will be able to meet, mingle and chat during breaks.

Best wishes,

Miranda Gomperts PhD.
