HSE guidelines for First Aid in the Workplace does not endorse administration of any medication, including aspirin. The only medication allowed is something prescribed by the persons own GP eg inhaler.

I would say that the overriding concern is that of a ‘cardiac incident’.  If one Aspirin saves a life then they should give it.  The person is going to be in hospital shortly, and the event will be monitored and recorded.  The likelihood of bleeding from one aspirin is low compared to the benefits of giving the drug if all the indications are pointing at heart attack.  In any case, they would be judged according to the first aid manual/level of first aid experience.

and if a first aider gives medication and the patient suffers harm how long before they are sued?

First aiders shouldn't be giving any medication should they, especially something potentially as dangerous as aspirin. What if they've a perf du or worse??

dodgy ground methinks
