Dear Both Mike's (!), Footway can indeed be a manway/shaft access (seen this on many old plans over the years - metal mining anyway), unfortunately the footpath concept could be right as well, but I still favour the manway shaft thinking... but we could be wrong!!! Regards, Bernard
