Dear all,

I am attempting to organise a small specialist library, and some of the
books are quite old. I don't think they're of any great value as most are
pretty tatty, some are maybe over 100 years old however. I don't want to add
to the tattiness by sticking spine labels onto them and encouraging even
more deterioration, I wondered what alternatives exist? I thought of half
wrapping them with paper strips so I could at least see the classmark and
shelve/straighten easily but could anyone who works with old books let me
know what the normal procedure is? Or any other creative ideas please.

Many thanks,

Liz
