Dear Colleagues

The Crafts Council Research Library is to be temporarily closed, whilst the
Crafts Council offices undergo renovation and refurbishment. The library will
be unavailable for a three month period, from Monday January 19th 2009, and
is due to reopen in late April 2009.

Library users looking for books, exhibition catalogues, magazines and
periodicals are being advised to make use of the national collections at the
British Library or the National Art Library at the Victoria and Albert
Museum, and to also search our organisations database to find regional and
specialist libraries which may be able to help. This database is located
within the Craft Directory area of our website at

Restricted access to our holdings will be offered, during the temporary
closure period, if users need to make use of specific items from our 'special
collection' of Crafts Council documents, or any other publications
unavailable elsewhere. This service will necessarily be limited, but users
are asked to contact the library team - using the contact details below - to
make a request to view such items during the temporary closure period.

We'd appreciate your assistance in spreading the word amongst your colleagues
and students to avoid any disappointment. If you have any further questions,
please contact the Research Library team at:

We would like to thank you all for your support of the library over the past
year - we ended the year on a high, with visitors from major fashion labels
Burberry and Stella McCartney, a very well attended visit from Arlis, and
numerous groups of enthusiastic students and makers. We wish you all an
enjoyable festive period and look forward to welcoming you back to the
library when it reopens in the spring.
