One of the things i found most curious about this piece when I heard it on
the Today programme was why were they doing it now. There was almost no
framing or contextualising of the piece, which for the Today programme was
presented very well, without any of the usual 'oh, look at this wierd modern
art stuff' tone that the presenters often use. It treated the work
seriously, and gave it enough time for the listeners to get a sense of it as
a project and as something to enjoy. But the book was first published in
2001, and has sold very well and been reprinted frequently since. From the
Today programme piece it might have just been published, or might not have
been published at all, as no acknowledgment of Coach House Books was given.
