medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture "prie-dieu (note the spelling)" I did note the spelling - in my Cassell's. I suspect the spelling depends on the dictionary consulted. The word has been adopted by the English language and has gone through various transmogrifications: prie-dieu; Prie-Dieu; Prie Dieu; prie Dieu. I've even seen it incorrectly pluralized; neither word should bear an "s" or an "x."
