English Heritage protects and provides advice on this country’s unique legacy of historic buildings, landscapes and archaeological sites. We also manage over 400 sites and welcome in excess of 11 million visitors to these each year.


We have two opportunities to work as part of the Greater London Archaeology Advisory Service on the Greater London Sites and Monuments Record (GLSMR). The successful candidates will assist in the development of the GLSMR through enhancement projects and entering the current backlog of historic environment reports into the SMR.


Although the posts are task specific, there will be opportunities to gain experience in other aspects of the work of historic environment records and English Heritage in general.  The posts are office based but may require some travelling in London


With an appropriate first degree, or equivalent, in archaeology or a related subject, you will ideally have an understanding of the role and future development of historic environment records and knowledge of the historic environment. IT competence is essential and previous use of ArcView GIS and Exegesis HBSMR software an advantage although not essential.
