Responsibilities:
The main purpose of the role is to provide high quality statistical
support to the Project teams in Veterinary Medicine Clinical Development
(Sandwich).  Statistical support includes: providing statistical input
to study protocols (including the experimental design, calculation of
sample size and power, the data analysis section, and the randomisation
procedures), development of randomisation and statistical summary and
analysis programs (using SAS version 9), advising on statistical content
of study reports and regulatory filing documents. After an initial
period, to take the role of lead biometrician for one or more projects. 

Duties include:
*    To assist with the Biometrics training sessions, as and when needed
*    To participate in the development of improved global statistical
procedures. This includes reviewing and updating Biometrics SOP's and
guidelines, validation checks and procedures, and evaluating and
implementing improved statistical procedures.
*    To liaise with colleagues in the US to ensure that a common
approach is taken to analysing clinical study data
*    To keep abreast of the relevant biometric advances and recommend
changes and new statistical techniques

Qualifications required:
Essential:
*    BSc in applied statistics or related discipline 
*    Prior experience in applied statistics 
*    A good knowledge of basic data analysis methods
*    Ability to program in SAS 
Preferred: 
*    Familiarity with mixed model techniques
*    Thorough knowledge of experimental design issues
*    Knowledge of regulatory aspects of drug development
