I am sure most of you already know this. However, FYI just in case.
  Excellent news.
Black Cultural Archives - Funding for Black History Centre BCA has secured £5.8M for the centre. See press release below.

The Heritage Lottery Fund have announced today a £4m grant to the Black Cultural Archives to develop Raleigh Hall, a derelict Grade 2* listed building in Windrush Square, Brixton, into a national centre for black cultural heritage. The project is also funded by the London Development Agency and the London Borough of Lambeth.

Raleigh Hall will open its doors to the public in 2011. The centre will house two exhibition spaces, an archive and library, and will provide a much-needed resource for the study of black Britain and the history of the African diaspora.

An additional £1.5m of funding is needed to see the project through to completion. If you'd like to donate, please complete this form (pdf). For more information about Raleigh Hall, download our leaflet Black Cultural Archives: 2011 (pdf

We are able to offer a limited enquiry service via phone and email, but regret that we are currently unable to receive visitors to the archive in person.
