Thankyou, Ann.

For other potentially interested readers/viewers (especially in our
former colonies in the Americas) I've this Saturday evening forwarded
Ann's posting, with a covering note, to 'MapHist'. Alas, Gerry's quite
good pun might be lost abroad (but there's an idea for Gerry . . .), so
I excluded that in preference for supplying bibliographic details of
Nick's book (5% commission only, Nick, on orders from North America will
keep quiet the undersigned).

Francis (without BBC4: 1 and 2 are quite sufficient)

It's an excellent programme. Should be subtitled 'Millea on the Fosse'!

"In search of medieval Britain"

The first of a series of 6 was transmitted on BBC 4 on Thursday 10
April. "Dr Alixe Bovary embarks on a historical journey around the
counry using the oldest surviving road map of Great Britain - the Gough
map"

(a well known name appears in the credits)

The programme is due to be repeated on BBC4 tonight (Saturday) at 7.10
pm.

If you miss it most BBC 4 programmes reappear on either BBC1 or 2 or yet
again on BBC 4
