*Postdoctoral research fellow - Statistics*

A position is available for a Postdoctoral Research fellow to work at the
interface between medical epidemiology and microbial genomics. The appointee
will work as part of a large multi-centre study on the relationship between
intestinal microbial composition and health in elderly people. The study
includes researchers from University College Cork, Cork University
Hospitaland Teagasc Moorepark and will exploit cutting edge
metagenomics and
clinical analysis of diverse health indices in a large cohort of elderly
subjects, including unique longitudinal measurements. The appointee will
report to Dr. Tony Fitzgerald, Dept. Epidemiology and Public Health, UCC, /
Dept. Statistics, UCC, and to the project co-ordinator, Dr. Paul O'Toole,
Dept. Microbiology UCC. The project will also involve collaboration with Dr.
Daniel Falush, Univ. College Cork. The post would be suitable for a
statistician with a background in medical epidemiology who is interested in
genetics, or a geneticist with a strong quantitative background who is
interested in epidemiological analysis. This is a full-time fixed term
contract appointment, initially for two years, on the CHIU Senior
Postdoctoral salary scale.
