Subject: FW: Free website editor training for new archive volunteers

The National Council on Archives is offering free Website Editor training to volunteer editors for www.communityarchives.org.uk

Following the successful launch of the Community Archives website, we are looking for six new volunteers to join our team of editors.  Editorial duties include researching and adding new entries to the national directory of community archives, posting news items, improving resource materials, and monitoring user-generated content.

We're looking for people who can offer 8 hours per month for a minimum of six months.  You should be web-literate, but no special technical skills are necessary. Volunteers may be based anywhere in the UK as you'll be working from your own computer. Liaison with the editorial team is primarily via the internet, so self-motivation is required.  It would be an advantage to have editorial skills and an understanding of the needs of community heritage groups.

Free training will be provided in how to update and moderate the site. If you are interested in developing a career in the cultural heritage sector, this would be good experience for your CV.

To find out more, in the first instance, please contact Louise Ray by 30th November at the latest on 020 8392 5347 (office hours) or 07834 606732, or via [log in to unmask]
