medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

I've read and surmised that dissolution of the Templars' Order was Philippe
le Bel's way of getting out of their debt; since PlB was head of the "Rois
Maudits dynasty," Jacques de Molay had the last laugh.

The curse is a myth.

The Templars' property was given in large measure to the Knights of Saint
John, hence the frequent confusion of the two Orders.

MG

Templars: a red cross paty on a white ground/mantle/surcotte, Hospitallers:
a white cross paty on a black (later also red) ground/mantle/surcotte. Even
colourblind observers may notice the difference. And after 1307/12 there
would have been no more confusion at all.
