A reminder that the Autumn series of the Bede's World Saturday Talks starts
again this Saturday, 27 October 2007, at Bede's World, Jarrow, Tyne and
Wear at the normal time of 12 noon.

Professor Richard Gameson, of Durham University, will be speaking on 'From
Calf to Codex: the making of manuscripts in Bede's Britain'.

Professor Richard Gameson is a leading expert on medieval manuscripts, and
has published over 70 studies on the subject. His studies have ranged
across art in the Anglo-Saxon Church, the early medieval Bible, Anglo-Saxon
manuscripts from Canterbury, the Stockholm Codex Aureus, and the Bayeux
Tapestry. He is currently editing volume 1 of the Cambridge History of the
Book in Britain, and has recently joined the University of Durham to work on
the History of the Book project.

The Bede's World Saturday talks take place on the last Saturday of most
months and are on subjects related to Bede's Northumbria. They are
organised jointly by Bede's World and the Friends of Bede's World. Museum
admission charges apply, although members of the Friends get free admission
to the talks as well as unlimited free admission to the Museum.

I hope to see you there.

Best wishes,

Laura Sole
