The Department of Anesthesia is seeking a Laboratory Manager in the Stanford Neuroimaging and Pain Lab. The lab manager will coordinate research projects combining psychophysical and neuroimaging techniques in the study of pain. Responsibilities will include: writing and updating Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, assigning responsibilities to lab members, directing recruitment efforts, overseeing data acquisition and analysis, and hiring, training and supervising undergraduate research assistants. This person will also assist with designing research studies and preparing data for presentation and publication. The lab manager will work with post-doctoral research fellows to track project progress, establish research goals, and anticipate project needs. He/she will also work with physicians in the Stanford Pain Clinic to organize clinical research studies of chronic pain.  A two-year commitment is requested.  

 

 

Qualifications: BA/BS in life or social science discipline with strong background in neuroscience, psychology and statistics. Must demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills. Technical ability is required as the lab manager will be expected to learn software for image analysis, statistics and stimuli presentation. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Experience with Matlab, neuroimaging software, and E-Prime desired.
