To reiterate by enumeration, a capacity for graphicacy in a world of eLiteration is, by elaboration, a definition through examination a containment of unnecessary words. As a contemporary researcher with Prof Coleman at Kings College, Prof.W.G.V. Balchin, later, while in Swansea, published the idea of Graphicacy as "the Fourth ace in the pack" - the others being literacy, numeracy and articulacy. (Tinho perhaps that assists your problem of pronunciation - Graphic + 'assy'?) In the paper, he promoted the ability to appreciate, make and use maps and diagrams as a desirable/ necessary (generic) skill within a geography degree. Perhaps now is an appropriate time to resurrect and promote the concept in today's Skills and Knowledge driven society and re-awaken an awareness of the capacity of cartographic principles to enhance the preparation and use of maps and graphics.
