Further to yesterdays postings, a quick response to clarify the relationship between AIP and the OASIS project. AIP are working in partnership with OASIS and are using the OASIS form to collect event data for projects not picked up via a SMR/HER brief. They also have an important ongoing role for Englsh Heritage is using OASIS data to monitor and analyse numbers and types of archaeological investigations. The primary means of access to all OASIS data and accompanying grey literature reports is and will be via the NMR Excavation Index in the ADS catalogue, and via HERs/SMRS that upload OASIS data and grey literature into their own database and websites. Finally, to pick up on another point that has been raised in discussion we can confirm that ADS does not intend to charge for the deposit of grey literature that accompanies an OASIS form.
