Teachers' TV and Fourdocs win at Learning on Screen Awards

The online and digital channel Teacher's TV and Channel 4's Fourdocs
documentary website were the big winners at this year's Learning on Screen
Awards. The Learning on Screen Awards celebrate and reward excellence in the
production of effective learning material which employs moving image, sound
and graphics. The Awards this year reflected the increasingly hybrid nature
of moving image content for learning and teaching, as producers employ
creative combinations of broadcast and online publishing to provide the
content and the contextualisation that students need. The Awards were
presented by Jonathan Hare (Hollywood Science, Rough Science) and Robert
Llewellyn (Hollywood Science, Scrapheap Challenge, Red Dwarf) on 19
September at the Learning on Screen 2006 conference in Birmingham. The
Awards are organised by the British Universities Film & Video Council. For

New online look and new data for the British Universities Newsreel Database

The BUFVC's British Universities Newsreel Database (BUND) has been
completely redesigned, and substantial new data has been added from the
ongoing Cinemagazines and the Projection of Britain project. Users will now
find the site divided into three sections: Search, Learn More, and About.
New features include a video showcase on the 1920s cinemagazine Around the
Town. The database now includes the records of many newly catalogued
cinemagazine series, including Mining Review, Eve's Film Review and London
Line. New biographical information has been added on hundreds of people and
companies associated with cinemagazines, and there is extensive information
on cinemagazine series. Visit http://www.bufvc.ac.uk/newsreels or
