Dear list, perhaps this query has been posed before, but I wonder if anyone has commented on a problem in running the example 7.3 from Peter Congdon's "Applied Bayesian Modelling" book? This is a Poisson spatial model using the Scottish lip cancer data and is well known, featuring in the original WinBugs examples. The problem arises only in the CAR model - ICAP(1) and ICAR(rho) seem to be fine. The model compiles but it ends in a Trap as soon as I try the initial burn-in.
