forum on "LCA in Industry: Challenges and Approaches to Make it more
Practical" on November 17, 2005, bringing together
practitioners and scientists working with and on LCA methodologies for
During the 25th Discussion Forum "Dissemination, application and
assessment of LCA in companies" it became apparent that industry
needs more practical and simplified methods for environmental
assessments. The 27th Discussion Forum takes up this request.
Application-oriented and scientific approaches for performing LCA in
companies will be presented and discussed, in particular with regard to
the chemical, material and electronics industry. Methodological
presented on the forum include generic tools for the estimation of
inventory data of chemical production and end-of-pipe processes as well
as various methods for shortcut or streamlined LCA developed in
co-operation with industry.
The conference will facilitate the exchange of experience between
practitioners from industry and developers of LCA tools.
from industry will have the opportunity to learn about new and
approaches and their implementation in companies. Moreover, they can
challenge these approaches and influence future method development by
expressing their needs to method developers. In return, method
will have the chance to get useful feedback from industry and draw
conclusions for further research and development.
