This is an interdisciplinary publication about a Neolithic lake dwelling
site on the Swiss lake shores of the lake of Constance.
Dendrochronological analysis show that the village was constructed in
3384 BC and was subsequently destroyed by a fire in 3370 BC. Almost half
of the whole village could be excavated. The excavation area of the
settlement included 27 houses. Every house could be dated, thus the
settlement history could be reconstructed. The archaeological findings
and the excavation information are already published in two previous
volumes. Now the last volume about “environment and economy” can be
presented. In this volume various disciplines within archaeological
sciences are discussed with respect to the site, including analysis of
sediments, bones, snails, insect remains, plant remains, human and animal
excrements, aDNA, eggs of parasites, chemical and morphological analysis
of carbonised food crusts and mineralogical and chemical composition of
pot sherds.

Presented in this volume is a 36 page English synthesis, in which are
included the most important results and the reconstruction of the daily
life of the Neolithic farmers.
