C A L L F O R P A P E R S for a session to be presented at the INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE of the International Council of Archaeozoology in Mexico City, 23rd to 28th of August 2006 entitled Exploitation of Coastal Resourses: New and Old World Perspectives. Del Valle 5737 (B7400 JWI), Olavarría - Argentina [log in to unmask] This session explores the worldwide exploitation of coastal resources during the history of mankind. Papers and posters may be proposed that are dealing with (1) the provision of food, such as molluscs, crustaceans, fish, birds and sea and coastal mammals; (2) the provision of raw materials, such as shells and bones; (3) the transportation of wild and domestic animals along coasts, between mainlands and islands, and between continents; (4) the impact on the wild fauna by human activities on the coast, such as dwelling, hunting, gathering, animal husbandry, introducing exotic plants and animals, and building dikes and damming gullies; (5) the contribution of marine and non-marine food to human and animal diet through stable isotope research; (6) other topics related with the exploitation of coastal resources. Each speaker will have 15 minutes for presenting the paper and 5 minutes for answering questions. It is also possible to present a poster within the framework of this session. There is no official language for this International Conference. Session participants should keep in mind, however, that presentations and posters delivered in English will likely reach a broader audience. By the 30th of January 2006 we need the following data for all presentations: a. Name of primary author, his or her institutional address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address b. Names and addresses of the additional authors c. Five keywords d. Full title of the submitted presentation e. Whether the submission will be a paper (spoken presentation) or a poster f. Abstract (up to 250 words excluding title, authors, and references) Esta sesión explora la explotación mundial de recursos costeros en la historia de la humanidad. Podrán ser propuestos artículos y posters referidos a los siguientes temas: 1) el aprovechamiento de recursos como moluscos, crustáceos, peces, aves y mamíferos marinos y costeros. 2) el aprovisionamiento de materias primas como valvas y huesos 3) el transporte de animales salvajes y domésticos a lo largo de la costa, entre continente e islas, y entre continentes. 4) el impacto de las actividades humanas en la costa: asentamientos, caza, recolección, domesticación de animales, introducción de plantas y animales exóticos, así como la construcción de diques y embalses que afectan la fauna silvestre. 5) la contribución de recursos marinos y no-marinos en la dieta humana y animal a través del análisis de isótopos estables. 6) otros tópicos relacionados con la explotación de recursos costeros. Cada expositor tendrá 15 minutos para presentar su ponencia y 5 minutos para responder preguntas. Es posible también presentar poster dentro del esquema de esta sesión. Esta Conferencia Internacional no tiene una lengua oficial, sin embargo los participantes deben tener en cuenta que la presentación de sus posters o ponencias en inglés tendrán una mayor audiencia.
