medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
There are still a lot of "cofradias" in Spain as well. Most of them have their origins in late Medieval times, but there are also a lot created in the 17th century. Many of them carry in procession in the Holy Week. There are a lot of web pages from these confraternities.

Devotion to the cofradia images is very strong, so it is quite usual also in Spain to make small images from the Saints or Virgins and having them at home.

Regards,

Francisco Javier Rojo
