E-Learning Programme - Technical Framework and Tools Strand call for
Technical Development Projects

Summary

The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) is seeking to commission
Technical Development Projects to inform its new Frameworks Programme. The
aim of the programme is to 'Develop and evaluate a framework to facilitate
interoperability across learning, teaching, research and their supporting
systems.'

The purpose of the proposed study is to create demonstrator Service Oriented
Architectures utilising the JISC e-Learning Technical Framework. The service
integration components developed during this activity will be made available
to the educational community in the form of open source software toolkits.

The tender document can be found at:
http://www.jisc.ac.uk/funding_elearning_demos.html

Tenders must be received by 10 am on Thursday 15 March 2004. It is expected
that projects will start on 10 May and complete on 29 October 2004. As a
general guideline it is anticipated that most projects will be awarded
funding of between 30,000 and 50,000 depending on the extent and complexity
of the work involved.
