Allegro Training's successful introduction to Cataloguing for non-
professionals or newly qualified staff - recently over-subscribed - is to
be run again in February 2003. Early booking is advised to avoid
disappointment.

Basic cataloguing is increasingly being undertaken by more senior
library assistants and paraprofessionals. Allegro Training has
recently launched a new course giving such library staff an outline
training in the essential elements of basic cataloguing.

At the end of the day delegates will

* be able to identify the elements of a catalogue record
* know how to check personal and corporate name headings
* be able to construct a new catalogue record for basic books and
    serials
* be able to understand a MARC formatted bought-in catalogue
    record
* know where to find further information

The course is interactiveand includes hands-on examples. It is not
designed around any specific catalogue utility. The course is backed
up with comprehensive handouts.

Date: Thursday 13 February 2003
Venue: Bloomsbury Square Training Centre, London
