The appointee will be expected to pursue research in their specialist field, to contribute course units in Italian Studies at undergraduate and postgraduate level, to share with colleagues in the Department responsibility for language teaching, and to assist with the general running of the Department of Italian Studies and the School of Modern Languages. Candidates will be of native or near-native competence in Italian, will have completed or be about to complete a Ph.D. in some relevant area, and will have firm plans for further research activity. Preference will be given to candidates with research and teaching interests in modern Italian narrative, cultural studies, and critical theory. The post is available from 1 January 2003. The appointment will be made at the appropriate point on the Lecturer A scale, £20,470 - £24,435 p.a.
