my (correctable) understanding is that Abgar had an imaged cloth which was
later to be known as the Mandylion, when it was purchased by the Emperor (in
the 9th c.?) and brought to Constantinople. And, of course, perhaps with us
yet as the Shroud of Turin.

Vernonica's cloth is a horse of a different color.

perhaps i'm wrong.
