The Johnson map of Manchester would appear to be a reissue or later edition
of his earlier map. Manchester Central Library would be a good place to
start hunting.
The two larger scale plans of Manchester were the subject of excellent
reprints in 1982 by Neil Richardson who currently publishes from 88 Ringley
Road, Stoneclough, Radcliffe, Manchester M26 1ET. I do not know if either
is still in print.

Subject: early urban sheets not in BL

I am attempting to track library locations of some early
large scale town plans which do not appear to be held at the
BL. I'd be grateful of any info. on copies (or variants)
and their whereabouts.

• Mapp of all / the Streets, Lanes & Alleys within / the
town of LIVERPOOL...
J. Chadwick, 1725. 17 x 21 3/4". Scale: [72 mm.] = 240
yds..
However the copy in Liverpool Record Office is a litho. and
must be a 19th century reproduction - if an original in fact
ever existed. James Chadwick is listed as surveyor in
Tooley.

• Plan of the Parish of Manchester in the County of
Lancaster from a survey made in the years 1836 and
1837...William Johnson, Manchester, 1 July, 1838. 980 x 1200
mm

• Plan of Manchester & Salford with their environs...
Bancks & Co., 1831? 18 sheets?
Reproduced 1982?

• A Plan of Manchester and Salford drawn from actual
survey...
W. Green, 1794? 18 sheets? Scale 60 yards to one inch.
Reproduced 1982.

• Plan of the City of Boston.
G.W. Boynton, 1844.

I'd be grateful of any info. on copies (or variants) and
their whereabouts.

Thanks.
