The fund is managed > separately from the existing Learning and Teaching Project Fund and will > initially operate for a one year pilot. Applications for funding are > invited to be submitted to the centre by 8 March 2002. Decisions will be > announced by 30th April 2002 and projects will be expected to commence > shortly after this date and complete within one year. There is £33,000 in > this dedicated fund targeted at project funding in the region of £3,000 to > £5,000. > > As the subject communities do not have well established practice in this > area, the fund will be targeted at key research questions and supported by > expert research mentors. This support group session will introduce the > fund and help potential applicants prepare bids. The key research areas > covered by this fund are: > > * Assessment of creative practice > * Relationship of theory and practice in the learning process > * Student learning > > Participants > Aimed at academic staff in art, design, history of art and design, media > and communication who are interested to pursue key research questions > related to learning and teaching in their subject context. Participants > need not have a publication record in this field but should have some > familiarity with the research field of student learning in HE. > > Process > A short presentation followed by discussion and small group work. > Refreshments and lunch will be provided. > > Outcomes > At the end of the support group you should be able to: > * Discuss key research areas covered by the fund > * Generate clear research questions > * Explore research methods for addressing those questions > * Plan an outline application for the fund > * Identify other sources of relevant funding > > Venues > Support Groups will be held in London (6 Dec 2001), Aberystwyth (18th Dec > 2001), Edinburgh (21 Jan 2002), Sheffield (23 Jan 2002), Bristol (5 Feb > 2002) and Ulster (6 Feb 2002).
