Project Officer (Evaluation and Dissemination)
Grade 2 Administrative, Library and Computer scale
Salary range £19,482 - £25,213
Fixed term contract until 31st December 2002.
A new Outreach Office, established within Schools and Colleges Liaison in
1999, supports a wide range of outreach activities in which university
students tutor and mentor in local schools and colleges to raise
aspirations, attainment and progression to F/HE. The Office leads an
externally-funded partnership Student Tutoring Project to develop a
programme of outreach activities in local schools and colleges and to
determine the impact of student tutoring on pupils and upon widening
participation to HE.
The postholder will be responsible for evaluating the impact of outreach
activities upon pupils and of the partnership project overall in its aims
to widen participation of young people to higher education. The
postholder will identify good practice and share project outcomes through
workshops, meetings, publications and the web.
Applicants will be graduates with experience of project evaluation and
information management, will have excellent analytical and interpersonal
skills and be competent in a range of IT applications including Word,
Excel, Access, SPSS and Powerpoint. Experience of work in higher
education will be an advantage.
Main responsibilities of post:
· to
enhance and implement the evaluation strategy for the student tutoring
scheme at Aston (facilitating project partner evaluation, advising on
future developments to determine the long term impact of student
tutoring), and to develop and implement an evaluation strategy for the
work of the Outreach Office in support of the University’s widening
participation strategy.
· to
identify good practice in widening participation through student tutoring
and school outreach programmes, and to share project outcomes with all
stakeholders, locally, regionally and nationally, through workshops,
meetings, publications and the web.
