INSTITUTE OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY LECTURER IN TEACHING AND LEARNING IN HIGHER EDUCATION (3 years) Ref: LTLHE/10386 The Institute of Educational Technology (IET) is an academic unit of the Open University and a centre of international excellence (RAE Grade 5) for teaching, research and development of educational technologies in the service of effective learning. Since the OU was founded in 1969, members of the Institute have played a major role in shaping its teaching strategies, planning its use of media and designing its teaching materials and learner support systems. IET has entered a new phase of technology and curriculum development for the expansion of online teaching and learning across the University, and offers a creative and enthusiastic environment for innovative approaches. The main purpose of this post is to contribute to course production and presentation on the Institute's Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, and the Master's programme in Open and Distance Education. There will be opportunities also to contribute to the Institute's developing range of non-award bearing academic professional development activities delivered within the Open University for its staff and curriculum development. You must have a first degree or equivalent and a higher degree or equivalent experience. Demonstrable experience in the field of professional development in teaching and learning in HE is essential as is experience of teaching and learning with new information technologies. The post is full-time and tenable from 15th April 2001 for three years. It will be based within the Institute in Milton Keynes and salary will be on the Lecturer scale, grade A, £18,731 - £23,256 per annum or grade B, £24,227 - £30,967 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
