Course Planning and Design (using constructive alignment)

Aimed at teaching staff who have a responsibility for course
planning, either as an individual unit of study or as part of an
holistic course or departmental approach.  The workshop is
participative and encourages the planning and teaching and learning
activities to constructively align with the learning outcomes and
assessment criteria.  Participants will be asked to bring with them a
working copy of a course document/handbook or module outline to work
with as a reference for the planning activities.

*To develop strategic skills in relation to course planning and design
*To plan a specific learning outcome
*To plan a teaching and learning session

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the session staff will be able to:
*Use a strategic approach to course planning
*Plan a course using the principles of constructive alignment
*Plan a teaching and learning session

Linda Drew is the Subject Centre Manager of the Learning and Teaching
Support Network for Art, Design and Communication (ADC-LTSN) based at
