Hello George, Not sure how this works yet. Went back to site to answer. Maybe could have just clicked “reply” from email. Anyway, I posted a link to a photo. Don’t know if it came through. The picture is unsigned. Oil on canvass. I figured my best bet would be to start with a quick identification of the monastic order and to draw timelines on the garments. Unfortunately I am unable to locate pictorial reference material on monastic vestments. At least not showing this one. Same regarding widow garments, since one flows from the other. Can’t find a pictorial history. The picture has some similarities with works by Rubens, such as in the eye treatment. Just not doing well on this one so far. Thank you.
