for multilateralism

Venue: Church House, Deans Yard, Westminster, SW1P 3NZ

Date: 20 November 2000, 5.30 <EN DASH> 7pm

In the immediate aftermath of the US elections, a panel including
Professor Linda Colley, LSE, John Lloyd and Phillip Merrill, former US
Ambassador to NATO will assess and debate what the result means for
international governance. Will America<RIGHT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK>s increasingly reluctant
internationalism threaten hopes of finding effective solutions to
global questions? What will be the impact of the new political
landscape in the US upon issues such as national missile defence, the
governance of the global economy and the reform of multilateral
institutions? In what ways will transatlantic and international
relationships be reshaped? How can proponents of multilateral
frameworks <EN DASH> in the US, in Europe and beyond <EN DASH> seek to foster
strategies for maintaining and enhancing multilateral co-operation?
