Perhaps it's an allusion to Vulgate Psalm 21:7 ( Ps. 22 in Hebrew numbering): ego autem sum vermis et non homo Jesus' quotation from the cross of the opening words of that Psalm not unreasonably links the entire work to him in later Christian exegesis, but it's still an arresting title in this context, sandwiched between King and Lion.
