As a sort of postscript to my earlier post, those interested in this subject may want to check out John Saward's _Redeemer in the Womb_ (San Francisco: Ignatius Press, 1993). This work is a theological reflection on the conception of Christ and the nine months in his Mother's womb. It makes reference to a number of patristic, medieval, early modern and liturgical materials in the course of the study.
