0100,0100,0100Apologies for Cross-Posting EU RESEARCH GRANTS IN COMPARATIVE SOCIAL RESEARCH AT THE ZENTRALARCHIV, ZA-EUROLAB, COLOGNE, Germany Vacancies available for May, July, August 2000. Deadline for application: April 10th, 2000 Within the 5th framework programme of the EU under the section "Access to Research Infrastructures action of the Improving Human Potential Programme", the ZA-EUROLAB has been granted support for three years starting February 1st 2000. Researchers are invited to apply for participation for a period up to three months. The Central Archive offers access to its databases, participation in training seminars and workshops, as well as experience exchange in data analysis and data management. The ZA-EUROLAB was established at the Central Archive to carry out the visiting programme and to provide access to the services and databases of the Central Archive (ZA). Access provided The Zentralarchiv provides access to major comparative collections such as the Eurobarometer surveys, the Central and Eastern Eurobarometer, the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) and the ICORE (International Committee for Research into Elections and Representative Democracy) collection of election studies to national parliaments in Europe. Furthermore, the collections include the Civic Culture Study, the Political Action Surveys, the USIA (United States Information Agency) Studies and the European- and World Values Survey. In addition, the Zentralarchiv holds the political manifestos provided by the "Comparative Manifestos Project" presenting the programmatic profiles of political parties in 20 countries from 1945-1988. Altogether, there are some 4000 data sets and collections available for secondary analysis. Furthermore, access to the ZA-EUROLAB is provided for participation in training seminars and training in data management and archiving. Eligibility User(s) from the member states of the European Union and the Associated States may apply for participation. The Associated States are: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. Subject to its final conclusion, the Association Agreement with the Swiss Confederation is expected to enter into force on the 01.01.2001. The User(s) must be both citizens of any of the above countries and work at an institution in an EU member state or Associated State, but outside Germany. Financial support Both individual researchers and research groups may apply for support. The fund covers up to EURO 500 in travel cost, accommodation and a per diem of approx. EURO 25. Visiting scholars must be entitled to publish the results of their work at the ZA-EUROLAB in the open literature. An international board will select applications on the basis of scientific merit through an independent peer review procedure.
