Electronic Records Conference Presentations Available

Tempe, AZ -- This week Arizona State University officials announced
that presentations from the "Preservation and Access for Electronic
University Records" conference are now available to the public on the
internet. The conference hosted by Arizona State in October featured
presentations by seventeen experts regarding management of electronic
records, courseware and research products created at colleges and
universities.

Experts included archivists, technology professionals, attorneys,
university registrars and librarians from ten universities across the
nation. Presentation notes or resource lists from thirteen sessions are
available for viewing and downloading. The topics addressed include
records management for electronic courseware, metadata, collaborative
enterprise system design issues and web page preservation. "Since this
was the first conference concentrating on university electronic records
issues and given the diverse professional backgrounds of our speakers we
felt it was important to make these presentations widely available,"
said conference co-chair Rob Spindler. The presentations are available
at <http://www.asu.edu/it/events/ecure/>.

Conference officials at Arizona State are already planning for another
conference entitled ECURE 2000: Preservation and Access for Electronic
College and University Records, to be held in Tempe, Arizona on October
12-13, 2000. Details for ECURE 2000 will also be made available at the
website address above.
