I wanted to send round a quick update from the EGI Ops meeting (Indico: https://indico.egi.eu/indico/event/3911/, Agenda: https://wiki.egi.eu/wiki/Agenda-2018-04-09). There were two areas I wanted to highlight:
# UMD3 is being retired on April 30
This was sent out in the EGI Broadcast on the 19th March, but in case you didn't catch it, sites are now being requested to move to UMD4 if they have not already done so - the UMD3 repo will be turned off on April 30th. I've put a copy of the UMD3 relevant text at the bottom of this email for reference, or you can see the entire broadcast here: https://operations-portal.egi.eu/broadcast/archive/2023.
A notification system for ARGO is being implemented, which will allow sites to receive email notifications to their registered site endpoint/site email address. Site level and service endpoint notification flags have been added to the GOC DB - you need to have both these set to receive notifications for a given service. Notifications are not active yet (and they didn't have a sense of when that would be) but if people are interested you should investigate the flag settings - you can see a little more detail in the agenda: https://wiki.egi.eu/wiki/Agenda-2018-04-09

The UMD3 distribution is DEPRECATED. Sites are kindly asked to switch from UMD3/SL6 to UMD4/SL6 repositories: this can be easily done upgrading to the UMD4/SL6 version of the umd-release, and updating the list of the packages.
The proposed deadline to shutdown the UMD3 repository is April 30th; after that, the UMD3 repository will be no longer available.
To perform the repository upgrade, please refer to http://repository.egi.eu/category/umd_releases/distribution/umd-4/
For each single product, please carefully check the official product-specific documentation and the release notes provided by the Technology Provider. Especially, please take care that during the switch you can jump to new major versions; hence it is always very important to CAREFULLY READ UPGRADE GUIDELINES AND RELEASE NOTES of the products you are updating.
For any issue with the switch, please opena a GGUS ticket to the EGI Software Provisioning Support Unit.
