The School of Design at Université Laval in Quebec City invits applicants for 1 Tenure Track, professor position in Graphic Design.
The Bachelor degree in Graphic Design at Université Laval provides solid training in graphic design (visit the program description) and, globally, the program aims to develop a strong empathic attitude towards the human issues involved in design. Students are trained to design innovative and effective visual communication projects.
SCHOOL OF DESIGN
The BDG is part of the School of Design, which also offers undergraduate and graduate programs in graphic design, interaction design and design and entrepreneurship. Facilities include state-of-the-art workshops and laboratories within the School of Art.
Teaching in undergraduate and graduate levels
Research/research-creativity, publications and productions, participation at conferences
Participation in program development
Participation in the academic and administrative life of the School of Design
External participation, which includes academic activities that reflect the professor’s social commitment
Ph. D. completed education in the field of design, supported by education in graphic design as well as recognized work experience in the field of graphic design and supported by professional practice. Otherwise, a master’s degree with sustained graphic design practice recognized by peers and accompanied by an international reputation may also be considered by the selection committee.
Ability to conduct research/research-creation and to obtain research funding in the program’s knowledge areas. To this end, peer-recognized publications and research/research-creation will be used to verify research accomplishments. The candidate submitting a non-doctoral application must demonstrate an interest in educational and research development, in particular by obtaining awards or distinctions related to the practice of graphic design, the organization of exhibitions or participation in major exhibitions, publications as the principal author, domestic and international participation as a speaker at conferences.
Knowledge related to the foundations, approaches and methods of design as well as the principles inherent in creativity and innovation
Proficiency in written and spoken French (the University offers candidates who cannot fully meet this requirement the opportunity to take courses to improve their knowledge of French)
Good knowledge of English
