Don’t you love Outres !
It's ages since I posted here.
I am working on some ideas of art as research regarding the outdoors, space and place and wondered what the arts could say about a definition and am reminded of EH Gombrich who wrote The Story of Art in 1950 and Art and Illusion 1960
He side-slipped the definition of Art thing by saying 'There really is no such thing as Art. There are only artists’ (Story of Art 1950)
This suggests to me that there is a balance between a painting as a static unchanging object and an artist making painting as a emergent changing object. Clearly there is more to Art than painting but it makes me think of looking at a definition emerging from what people are doing now in comparison with what remains of what they did in the past.
