Hello All
Here at Sussex we still have a significant amount of VHS cassettes in our AV collection. Many of these are still well-used for teaching and available on the open shelves, but a proportion of the overall collection in our store has had practically zero usage despite being on the Library catalogue.
I was wondering what other University libraries are doing with their VHS items, do you plan to keep them in perpetuity, weed them against the same criteria as books or use a different set of guidelines? Are you replacing with DVDs or making the information available digitally? Do you plan to participate in the BUFVC reserve project?
If anyone has created a policy about the retention/management of their VHS collection, I would be really interested in having a look.
Many thanks for your help,
Chloe
